The Hindu Munnani members condemned the jewel melting scheme introduced by the Tamil Nadu government and stated that the DMK regime has been acting against the Hindu community.
Coimbatore: The Hindu Munnani members staged a state-wide protest condemning the Temple Jewel Melting Scheme of the TN Government.
A protest to condemn this policy of the state government in power was held near Muniyappan Temple near Gandhipuram.
The protestors dressed up and guised children as Gods and Bharat Mata.
More than 200 people participated in the protest.
The agitators urged the Tamil Nadu Government to abandon the proposal to melt temple jewelry. They also stated that the Chief Minister has been refusing to meet the Hindu Munnani party to discuss this issue.
J.Kishore Kumar, State Secretary alleged that “There are also huge amounts of jewelry and properties belonging to the temples. Several acres of land have been looted after the formation of the Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Department (HR & CE), by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The implementation of special privileged worship has angered the devotees.With the Hindu Front continually fighting against the Charitable Endowments Department, the temple jewelry melting scheme’s introduction is an act that has angered the community.”
He further stated that the state government continues to act against the Hindu community. He said there was a possibility of corruption in the scheme as it involves jewelry worth crores of rupees. He added that there would be much larger protests if the government doesn't revoke the scheme. He informed that not a single puja has been performed in the temples and he urged that the Government of Tamil Nadu should come forward to rectify it.
Almost 200 people including District President S. Dasarathan took the lead. Divisional Secretary S. Satish, Divisional Speaker A Krishnan, District General Secretary M Jaishankar also addressed the gathering. District Spokesperson S. Dhanapal, District Secretaries Arusamy, Anand, Maheshwaran, Ramesh, District Executive Jayapalan and District City Branch in-charges participated in the protest.
