Rs. 1.13 lakh looted from youth in the pretext of offering a commission against goods sold online; Cyber crime police investigation

Dinesh paid Rs.1.13 lakh in various instalments like rupees 5000, rupees 10,000 rupees 30,000 online to the specific bank account number on that website. He did not receive any commission, as stated on the Internet. When he tried to contact there was no answer on that number. Shocked by this he lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore District Cyber Crime Police.


Coimbatore: Cybercrime police are investigating an unidentified person who allegedly swindled Rs. 1.25 lakh by claiming that he was giving a job on a commission basis to a job seeker online.

Dinesh, (28), is a data entry operator from Chinna Thadagam near Coimbatore who was looking for a part-time employment on the internet. He visited a website and registered his name, cell phone number and address for the job.

Meanwhile, he received a message on WhatsApp. The message stated that if he (Dinesh) pays a certain amount of money and registers himself as a member, he will receive a higher amount of commission against goods that are sold through that website. Believing this, he has paid Rs.1.13 lakh in various instalments like rupees 5000, rupees 10,000 rupees 30,000 online to the specific bank account number on that website.

However, he did not receive any commission, as stated on the Internet. Thus, he tried to contact the phone number from that internet. But there was no answer on that number. Shocked by this he lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore District Cyber Crime Police. Cyber crime police are investigating the scam.
