Students in uniform can travel with old bus pass and school identity card.
Coimbatore: Schools in Tamil Nadu are gearing up to reopen from November 1, from Classes 1 to 8, as per the order issued by the Minister of School Education, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi. Students have reportedly not acquired a new bus pass since school campuses have been shut due to Covid-19 in the past year and a half. Hence, the Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation has announced that students of Classes 1-8 who are in school uniforms, can travel for free with the old bus pass and their school ID card.
Even as Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu were gradually declining in the past few months, physical classes had begun on campuses for students from Grade 9 to 12. The Tamil Nadu School Education Department decided to also resume physical classes for students studying from Grades 1 to 8, from November 1.
Since the new bus passes have not been issued, the TN Transport Corporation has instructed drivers and conductors to allow students to travel for free, if they were in uniform and carried their old bus pass and school identity card.
