Air traffic turns normal as 20 flights operated post covid from the Coimbatore International Airport on a daily basis

Air travellers have every reason to celebrate as the daily count of flights operated from Coimbatore spike to 20 on a daily basis with direct flights operated to Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi.


Coimbatore: The air travellers, businessmen rejoiced as the air traffic from Coimbatore Airport reached 20 flights on a daily basis post covid.

The number of flights operated from the Coimbatore International Airport reduced to 5 flights per day from the month of May due to the pandemic. Businessmen who travelled through air and the people of 7 districts of the Kongu region were highly impacted.

However, serious inoculations and pandemic restrictions lowered the spread of the virus, which once again resumed flight operation on a regular basis after June. The number of flights operated on a daily basis increased to 20 from 16th to 23rd October.

Coimbatore Airport Director, Senthil Valavan said, 'The flights are operated on a daily basis from the Coimbatore International Airport has now spiked to 20. Strict, stipulated guidelines as per the state and centre are followed during operation and in the airport. Also, direct flights are operated to cities including Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore. Flights to various other places including Coimbatore to Ahmedabad via Bangalore, Baroda via Chennai are operated. It is expected that the flight operation will increase in the upcoming days.'

33 to 35 flights were operated from Coimbatore International Airport before the pandemic on a daily basis.
