Kovai Thangam's son-in-law arrested in fraud case admitted to hospital

Arun Prakash was produced in court and was taken to Avinashi jail in a vehicle under a heavy security blanket. On the way to the jail, he informed the police that he is not keeping well. Admitted to the GH here, he is undergoing treatment there.


Coimbatore: Arun Prakash, the son-in-law of former MLA Kovai Thangam from Saibaba Colony Ganapathy Lay-out in Coimbatore, has been running various businesses including in the real estate sector.

Arun Prakash has borrowed a sum of Rs 7 crore from Sindhuja of Chitra Sasi Avenue area in Peelamedu and Rs 1.5 crore from her father with the intention of starting a business.

It is alleged that he refused to return the money when asked for it. Following this, Sindhuja and her father Senkuttuvan lodged separate complaints with the police. The Coimbatore City Crime Branch police registered a case and arrested Prakash on the 19th based on a complaint lodged by Sindhuja's father Senguttuvan.

The accused was later produced in court where the judge remanded him in custody at the Tirupur Avinashi Branch Jail. Following this, the police took him to Avinashi in a vehicle under a blanked of heavy security. While on the way to the jail, Arul Prakash informed the police on security duty that he was not keeping well.

Police rushed him to the Coimbatore Government Hospital. He was later admitted to a ward where inmates are treated. He has been receiving treatment at the hospital for the last three days.
