V Eswaran resigns as state youth secretary from MDMK

V Eswaran resigns as state youth secretary from Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) and is all set to start Marumalarchi Makkal Iyakkam.

Coimbatore: State Youth Secretary V. Easwaran has resigned from the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK).

A statement issued in this regard, read “For the last 28 years I have devoted my entire life to working for MDMK. I have fulfilled the orders given by the party and I continue to fight through the legal struggle to solve the problems of the people. I have served in the party in various capacities as Team Organizer, Union Secretary, District Secretary, Youth Team Secretary. I have served brilliantly in all elections from the by-election to the last Palladam Assembly election. 10,000 trees are being planted in Coimbatore through my legal battle against the National Highways Department.

This is what I consider to be the greatest achievement I have ever made. I have allocated about Rs. 200 crore for the solid waste management project in Coimbatore through the Vellore landfill case. I have been fighting for many years to prevent waste from Kerala from entering Tamil Nadu. I continue to speak out for the protection of the Western Ghats and the development of the Coimbatore River Project. I was involved in countless struggles for the educational opportunities of poor, students. I have also done cycling tours demanding the need for grounds to improve students ’athletic ability.

I have waged innumerable struggles for all the infrastructure development projects in Coimbatore such as the Metro Rail Project, the Wide Rail Project and the Road Expansion Project. I also played a major role in running the Prohibition Marathon and getting over a million students to participate. I was able to achieve this only because the operating comrades cooperated for all these events. My heartfelt thanks to them!”

He added, "I have never even benefited from using the political connections I have gained through my public life. I have made it my policy not to use politics for my own gain. Although I have not held any post for the last 28 years and have suffered numerous material losses, this political career has given me satisfaction by working for the people and gaining many victories. Nothing is wasted. Yet many events that take place in politics and society make me very angry.

Thought to change or resolve this but could not bring it from a political movement. Many times I face embarrassment. It is not good for the movement that I am running here when there are conflicts between party ideologies and my activities. I think I should make the slightest effort to bring about the many political and social changes that I think in my life. I need a small organization to continue my legal battles and continue the work of the people.

So I am going to start a movement called the Marumalarchi Makkal Iyakkam. This is not a political movement! But it can also be used to clean up politics. The leader I love, Vaiko, has sown many basic principles in my soul. It has become a tree today. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my affectionate General Secretary who taught me honesty, dignity, heroism and wisdom in politics, and to my comrades who co-operated with me and made my struggle a success and who loved me," read the press note.
