Coimbatore roadside vendors have demanded that a camp be setup under the leadership of bank officials, corporation officials and district administration officials to facilitate the process of obtaining a special loan of Rs 10,000 during the Coronavirus period.
There are more than 6,150 registered roadside vendors in Coimbatore. There are about 12 thousand roadside vendors without registration. The livelihoods of roadside and pedestrian traders have been completely affected due to the coronavirus curfew.
Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu government has announced a special loan of Rs 10,000 for roadside vendors. As there is a problem in obtaining credit, the merchants have demanded that special arrangements be made so that all the departments concerned can participate in obtaining the loan in a simple manner.
Coimbatore District Roadside and Platform Vendors Union President said, "They don't respond to us if we go to the bank and request for the Rs. 10,000 loan announced by the Tamil Nadu government. The corporation administration, the district administration and the bank officials should set up a camp and make the process simple for providing loans to the roadside traders."
He also demanded that steps be taken to obtain the relevant documents from the unregistered roadside vendors and get them registered.
