India-China Financial Dialogue postponed to July

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and his Chinese counterpart Lou Jiwei will head the eighth round of India-China Financial Dialogue next month, according to a top Finance Ministry official.

As Mr. Jaitley is scheduled to visit China again, along with Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das, from July 19 to 24 for a G20 meeting of Finance Ministers, it was decided to hold the financial dialogue then, the official said, adding that the decision was taken nearly two weeks ago.

Earlier, the dialogue was to be held on June 27 during Mr. Jaitley's current visit to Beijing.

The Finance Minister left early morning on Thursday for a five-day visit to take part in a host of events.

The previous financial dialogues were headed by Finance Secretaries of both sides, The seventh one was held in New Delhi in 2014.

During his present visit to China, the first after he took over as finance minister, Mr. Jaitley will have meetings with bankers, wealth fund managers and business investors. He is also scheduled to attend the Board of Governors meeting of the China-sponsored Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in which India along with 56 countries are members.
