CITU complains against functioning of units on May Day

The Uthukuli-branch of CITU-affiliated Baniyan and General Workers Union has sent complaints to the Inspectorate of Factories and Labour department against the functioning of a few industrial units in different places near Utuhukuli on May Day.

“We had complained with the names of major units during previous years too. However, the officials concerned did not take action against main defaulters. They just imposed penalty on small units”, said CITU district committee member R. Kumar.

Meanwhile, some textile unit owners were of the opinion that they did not force any worker to come to the units on May Day.

“Certain units which had to stick to the deadline of delivery of orders had worked”, they said.
