Regional Transport Office (RTO) personnel form the South and Central offices conducted a surprise check in buses using air horns at the Singanallur Bus Stand on Wednesday evening.
During the three-hour check with help of a Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board environment scientist, they checked 54 buses and removed air horns from 18 buses that included 10 private and eight Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation buses.
The drive was conducted by teams led by the Regional Transport Officers S. Munusamy (South) and S. Udhayakumar.
