The State government has directed that workers in the unorganised sector, including those in construction, should be given leave on the day of polling.
The Commissioner of Labour, P. Amudha, in an official release said that unorganised sector workers should be granted holiday with wages by the employers on May 16 so that they could exercise their franchise. The release said regular one-day wages should be paid on the day.
