Coimbatore: The Kovai Kutralam eco-tourism destination in Coimbatore has been reopened to visitors from today, September 1, after the flash-flood situation subsided and water flow at the waterfalls returned to normal, the Forest Department announced.
The eco-tourism centre was temporarily closed from August 29 following incessant rainfall in the Siruvani catchment areas, which led to a sharp rise in water flow and posed safety concerns for visitors.
With rainfall now significantly reduced in the Siruvani region of the Western Ghats and the water flow at Kovai Kutralam returning to normal levels, the Forest Department has permitted the reopening of the eco-tourism destination.
The Boluvampatti Forest Range Office confirmed that visitors can access Kovai Kutralam from today.
