Coimbatore Invites Applications for Padma Awards 2027

District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar has announced that applications for Padma Awards to be presented on Republic Day 2027 must be submitted by July 31, 2026. Individuals excelling in sports and various other fields are encouraged to apply for these prestigious national honors.


Coimbatore: District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar has called for applications for the Padma Awards that the Government of India will confer during the 2027 Republic Day celebrations. This announcement has been issued on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority.

The Government of India presents Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri awards to individuals who have rendered exceptionally distinguished and extraordinary service in the fields of art, science, literature, sports, medicine, education, technology, social welfare, public affairs, industry, and other categories.

These awards are conferred without any distinction of profession, race, occupation, or gender. Individuals who have achieved excellence and made remarkable contributions in their respective fields are eligible to apply.

Complete details about the application process can be obtained from the websites https://awards.gov.in and https://padmaawards.gov.in, and applications must be submitted online only. However, applications related to district sports will be accepted at the District Sports Office.

Sports applications should be completed and submitted in three copies by July 31, 2026, in person to the District Sports and Youth Welfare Officer, Coimbatore District.

Selected applications will be forwarded to the State Government along with recommendations from the District Collector, Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar informed.
