Coimbatore: In a significant step towards creating inclusive livelihoods, Lakshmi Ring Travellers (Coimbatore) Private Limited has launched "Namma Laundry," a community-based laundry service near Kanuvai. What makes this venture truly special is that it is exclusively operated by individuals with hearing and speech impairments, marking a pioneering effort in social entrepreneurship.

This initiative has successfully created sustainable livelihood opportunities for six families, enabling them to achieve financial independence and self-respect through meaningful employment. The laundry service ensures customer convenience by offering doorstep pick-up and delivery services, all managed and operated entirely by trained differently-abled beneficiaries.

The center stands as testimony to how targeted programs can transform human lives, serving as an excellent example of self-reliance and inclusive development. The service demonstrates that with proper training and opportunity, persons with disabilities can successfully manage professional operations while delivering quality service to customers.

The laundry center is headed by Murali, founder of Deaf Leaders Foundation, who himself is a person with hearing and speech impairment. During the event, Murali expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Ravi Sam, Managing Director of Adwaith Lakshmi Group, and Uthara Ravi, Managing Director of Lakshmi Ring Travellers, for their unwavering support in empowering this community.

"This initiative is a first step towards economic independence for our community. Currently, the center is earning approximately ₹5,000 per day, and we are confident that this revenue will steadily increase in the coming months," Murali stated. The center not only provides employment but also creates a model for replicable social enterprises across the region.

The initiative by Lakshmi Ring Travellers showcases corporate social responsibility in action, where business objectives align with social impact. By providing professional training, infrastructure, and ongoing support, the company has enabled these six families to transition from dependency to economic self-sufficiency. The success of Namma Laundry is expected to inspire similar ventures that prioritize inclusive employment and community empowerment.
