Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Announces Fever Prevention Measures as Northeast Monsoon Intensifies

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran announces intensified fever prevention measures as the Northeast monsoon gains strength, with fever camps conducted across the city to combat potential outbreaks.

Coimbatore: As the Northeast monsoon intensifies in Coimbatore and surrounding areas, Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran has announced a series of measures to prevent the spread of fever, including dengue, in all 100 wards of the city.

The Corporation has been conducting fever camps through Urban Primary Health Centers since October 14. On the first day, 52 camps were held, screening 3,091 people, with 82 identified as having fever and provided treatment. On October 15, 37 camps screened 2,534 individuals, identifying 35 fever cases. The efforts continued on October 16 with 71 camps, examining 3,920 people and detecting 89 fever cases.

Commissioner Prabhakaran has ordered an increase in the number of fever camps and prevention activities until the end of the monsoon season. The Corporation is also focusing on raising awareness among school students about monsoon-related health risks and mosquito prevention measures. Students are urged to inform ward health officers and sanitary inspectors immediately if they develop fever symptoms.

The public is requested to cooperate fully with Corporation employees engaged in fever prevention work. Residents are advised to seek treatment at nearby government primary health centers or hospitals instead of self-medicating. The Commissioner also emphasized the importance of drinking boiled and cooled water daily.

Property owners, including private establishments and commercial complexes, are instructed to properly maintain rainwater drainage systems. The Corporation appeals to the public to participate in fever camps during the monsoon season to help prevent the spread of illnesses.
