Heavy Rains Continue to Lash Coimbatore: Government Bus Stranded in Sivananda Colony

Coimbatore experiences second day of heavy rainfall, causing waterlogging and traffic disruptions. A government bus got stranded in floodwaters at Sivananda Colony, while authorities work to mitigate rain-related issues.

Coimbatore: Heavy rains continue to batter various parts of Coimbatore city for the second consecutive day, leading to waterlogging and traffic disruptions. The downpour, which began in the evening, has particularly affected areas such as Gandhipuram, Ramanathapuram, Ukkadam, and Gaundampalayam.

The persistent heavy rainfall has caused water to overflow on many roads, significantly impacting traffic movement. Major roads in the city are experiencing slow-moving vehicles as they navigate through waterlogged streets.

In a concerning incident, a government bus became stranded in floodwaters at the Sivananda Colony railway underpass. This follows a similar incident from the previous day when a private bus was caught in rainwater at Sai Baba Colony.

Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation officials are actively working to address the rain-related issues and mitigate the impact of waterlogging. The corporation has stated that they are operating at full capacity to prevent water stagnation across the city.

Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling and to stay updated on weather conditions and any advisories issued by local authorities. The meteorological department's forecast suggests that the rainfall may continue, and citizens are urged to be prepared for potential weather-related challenges in the coming days.
