Children Write on Rice Grains in Special Worship at Sri Lakshmi Hayagravar Shrine in Udumalaipettai on Vijayadasami

On Vijayadasami, children and public participated in a special worship at Sri Lakshmi Hayagravar shrine in Udumalaipettai, writing "Om Sri Lakshmi Hayagravar" on rice grains, marking the auspicious day for beginning education.

Tirupur: The Sri Venkatesa Perumal Temple near Udumalaipettai in Tirupur district witnessed a unique celebration of Vijayadasami on Tuesday. Children and members of the public gathered at the Sri Lakshmi Hayagravar shrine within the temple complex to participate in a special worship ceremony.

As part of the ritual, children were encouraged to write "Om Sri Lakshmi Hayagravar" on rice grains. This practice is believed to be an auspicious start to a child's educational journey, as Vijayadasami is traditionally considered an ideal day to begin learning.

Vijayadasami holds significant importance in Hindu culture, particularly in relation to education and new beginnings. It is widely believed that any endeavor started on this day will lead to great success. The day is especially celebrated as 'Vidya Upadesam', marking the commencement of a child's formal education.

According to tradition, starting primary education on Vijayadasami is thought to ensure that children excel in their studies. Many families also observe the custom of worshipping books that were stacked during Saraswati Puja. On Vijayadasami, these books are once again worshipped, offered prasad, and given aarti. Reading a few lines from these books on this day is believed to further enhance one's educational progress.

The event at the Sri Venkatesa Perumal Temple saw a large turnout of devotees who participated in the special worship and sought blessings. The atmosphere was filled with devotion as parents and children alike took part in this meaningful tradition, symbolizing the beginning of a prosperous educational journey.
