AIADMK Stages Human Chain Protest Against Property Tax Hike in Madathukulam Constituency

Over 200 AIADMK members formed a human chain in Madathukulam, Tiruppur district, protesting against property tax and electricity tariff increases. The demonstration, led by MLA Mahendran, demanded Chief Minister Stalin's resignation.

Coimbatore: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) staged a human chain protest in Madathukulam, Tiruppur district, against the recent hike in property tax and electricity tariffs. The demonstration, held in front of the Madathukulam Town Panchayat office, saw participation from over 200 party members.

The protest was led by Mahendran, the Madathukulam MLA and Tiruppur Outer East District Secretary of AIADMK, following the directives of party General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami. Protesters raised slogans condemning the increase in property tax and electricity charges, demanding immediate rollback of these hikes.

The demonstrators also called for the resignation of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, accusing his government of working against the interests of the people. Neelampur Selvaraj, the Madathukulam Town Secretary of AIADMK, was among the prominent participants in the protest.

Similar demonstrations were held in other parts of the Madathukulam constituency, including Kaniyur, Kumaralingam, and Sankaramanallur Town Panchayat offices. The AIADMK members in these areas also voiced their opposition to the tax and tariff increases, echoing the sentiments expressed in the main protest at Madathukulam.

The widespread protests across the constituency highlight the growing discontent among the opposition parties and citizens against the recent financial measures implemented by the DMK government. The AIADMK's coordinated efforts in organizing these demonstrations indicate an intensifying political battle over economic policies in Tamil Nadu.
