Only Birth and Death are Tax-Free in Tamil Nadu - Pollachi Jayaraman Criticizes

AIADMK organized a human chain protest in Pollachi. Former Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman severely criticized the Tamil Nadu government's tax hikes and lack of development initiatives.

Coimbatore: On October 8, AIADMK organized a human chain protest in Pollachi against various issues including deteriorating law and order, price hikes, and property tax increases in Tamil Nadu.

The protest, led by AIADMK City Secretary Krishnakumar, took place in front of the MLA's office. Former Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman, along with several AIADMK executives and volunteers, participated in the demonstration. Protesters raised slogans condemning the actions of the Tamil Nadu government.

Speaking to reporters after the protest, Pollachi Jayaraman accused the current government of failing to implement any new schemes beyond those initiated during the AIADMK regime. He pointed out that no developmental works such as new hospitals, medical colleges, primary health centers, or drinking water projects were being undertaken.

Jayaraman also mentioned that schemes introduced during the AIADMK rule, such as gold for mangalsutra, laptop distribution, and livestock provision (goats, milch cows, chickens), had been discontinued. He argued that these programs had been instrumental in boosting the rural economy.

"Property tax, house tax, electricity charges, milk prices - everything has been increased. Only birth and death are tax-free now. The Tamil Nadu government has hiked all other taxes," Pollachi Jayaraman criticized sharply.
