Awareness Rally Against Plastic Products in Udumalpet - Over 50 Participants

A bicycle rally and awareness program against plastic usage was organized in Manupatti near Udumalpet, Tirupur district, as part of Wildlife Week celebrations. Over 50 students participated in the 6 km rally.


Tirupur: An awareness rally against plastic products was conducted in Manupatti area near Udumalpet, Tiruppur district, as part of the Wildlife Week celebrations. The event was organized jointly by the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, Udumalpet Forest Range, Tirupur Forest Division, Ennam Pol Vazhkai Foundation, and Aranya Foundation, under the direction of Devendrakumar Meena IFS, Deputy Director of Anamalai Tiger Reserve.



The rally was flagged off by S.A.I. Nelson, founder of Ennam Pol Vazhkai Foundation, and Karthikeyan, Public Relations Officer of RGM Educational Institutions. Forest Range Officer Manigandan presided over the event, with Forester Nimal also present.



More than 50 students from RGM Higher Secondary School and Amaravati Sainik School participated in the bicycle rally.



The procession covered a distance of about 6 km, starting from Manupatti and ending at Ezhumalaiyan Temple junction.



Following the rally, an awareness program was conducted at the Ezhumalaiyan Temple junction. Students were educated about the harmful effects of plastic and the importance of forests. The event concluded with a signature campaign. Forest department staff, school teachers, and ambulance personnel were present throughout the program to ensure safety and support.

The initiative aimed to create awareness among the younger generation about environmental conservation and the need to reduce plastic usage, aligning with the objectives of Wildlife Week celebrations.
