Coimbatore Regional Construction Workers Union (HMS) Opens New Office in Udumalpet

The Coimbatore Regional Construction Workers Union (HMS) inaugurated its new office in Udumalpet, Tirupur district. The event, led by state organizational secretary Manoharan, included key resolutions for worker welfare.


Tirupur: The Coimbatore Regional Construction Workers Union (HMS) celebrated the opening of its new office in Udumalpet, Tirupur district. The inauguration ceremony took place at Thali Road Corner in Udumalpet, under the leadership of Manoharan, the state organizational secretary and general secretary of the union.



Prior to the main event, union members paid tribute to Kamaraj by garlanding his full-size statue near the old bus stand. Manoharan then officially opened the new union office, while H.M.S. Trade Union Congress District Secretary Govindraj hoisted the union flag. G. Ravi, President of the Udumalpet Town Congress Committee, distributed sweets to the public.



During the ceremony, Salem Ganesan, a member of the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board and State Vice President, along with State Secretary Ramani, presented welfare board cards and membership certificates to union members. The event was attended by several notable figures, including Congress Committee General Body Member Irugur Subramaniam and Palaniswami, the Executive President of the Coimbatore Regional Construction Workers Union.

Following the inauguration, several resolutions were passed, focusing on improving the welfare of construction workers. Key demands included:

1. Proper maintenance of the welfare board's server system

2. Provision of Rs. 7,000 as Diwali bonus for construction workers

3. Implementation of simplified procedures for housing subsidies

4. Timely disbursement of pensions to retired workers by the 10th of each month

5. Pension eligibility for female workers at the age of 55

These resolutions aim to address various concerns of the construction workers and enhance their overall welfare.
