Elderly Man Robbed of Rs. 1 Lakh on Bus in Coimbatore's Singanallur

A 65-year-old man from Dindigul was robbed of Rs. 1 lakh on a private bus in Singanallur, Coimbatore. The incident occurred while he was traveling back to his hometown after borrowing money from relatives.


Coimbatore: An elderly man fell victim to a daring theft on a private bus in Singanallur, Coimbatore, losing Rs. 1 lakh in cash. The incident has prompted local police to launch a manhunt for the unidentified culprit.

Thirumalaisamy, a 65-year-old resident of Dindigul district, visited his niece Anuradha's house in Nilambur near Coimbatore on September 22. During his visit, he borrowed Rs. 1 lakh from Anuradha's husband. Placing the money in his trouser pocket, Thirumalaisamy set out to return to his hometown.

The victim boarded a private bus from Hope College bus stop to Singanallur. Taking advantage of the crowded bus, an unidentified person skillfully cut open Thirumalaisamy's trouser pocket with a blade and made off with the entire sum of Rs. 1 lakh.

Shocked by the theft, Thirumalaisamy immediately filed a complaint at the Singanallur Police Station. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation to track down the mysterious thief who managed to escape in the crowd.

This incident highlights the need for increased vigilance while traveling with large sums of money, especially in crowded public transportation. The Coimbatore police are urging the public to be cautious and to report any suspicious activities promptly.
