The raid was prompted by complaints that the Sub-Registrar, Nancy Nithya Caroline, was collecting bribes from the public and business organizations through document writers for property registrations.
Acting on the complaint, a team of ACB officials led by Inspector Parimala carried out the sudden inspection. The officials locked the main gates of the Sub-Registrar office and interrogated the employees present on the premises. During the search, they seized ₹1.50 lakh in unaccounted cash from an employee named Keerthi.
