Two Crocodiles Spotted in Pattakaranur Village Pond Near Pallapalayam, Causing Panic Among Residents

Two crocodiles were sighted in a pond in Pattakaranur village near Pallapalayam, Coimbatore district, causing fear among local residents. Forest officials are monitoring the situation and planning to capture the reptiles.


Coimbatore: Residents of Pattakaranur village near Pallapalayam in Coimbatore district are in a state of panic after two crocodiles were spotted in a local pond. The village, which falls under the Pallapalayam panchayat near Mettupalayam, has been on high alert since the sighting.

Initially, one crocodile was observed in the pond. However, the situation escalated when two crocodiles were recently seen, intensifying the fear among the villagers.



Upon receiving information about the crocodile sightings, the Sirumugai Forest Department officials have been continuously monitoring the pond for the past two days. They have installed protective fences around the area to prevent the crocodiles from leaving the pond and potentially endangering the nearby residents.

The Forest Department has initiated plans to capture the crocodiles safely. Officials are considering draining the pond to facilitate the capture of the reptiles. This measure is being taken to ensure the safety of both the villagers and the crocodiles.

Residents are advised to stay away from the pond area and report any sightings to the forest officials immediately. The authorities are working diligently to resolve the situation and restore normalcy to the village.
