Traffic Diversions Announced for Vinayagar Idol Procession in Coimbatore Today

Coimbatore City Police announce traffic changes on September 9 for Vinayagar idol procession. Heavy vehicles banned from 8 AM to 8 PM. Alternate routes provided for smooth traffic flow.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police have announced traffic diversions for September 9 in view of the Vinayagar idol procession. According to the press release, the procession will begin at 1 PM from Dharmaraja Temple in Kuniyamuthur and proceed through Kuniyamuthur and Palakkad Road before immersion in Kuniyamuthur Lake.

Another procession will start at 2 PM from Saratha Mill Road in Podanur, converge at Sangam Street, and move via Sundarapuram to Pollachi Road, ending with immersion in Kurichi Lake. To facilitate these processions, the following traffic changes will be implemented:

Heavy vehicles and lorries are prohibited from entering the city from 8 AM to 8 PM on September 9. Vehicles coming from Pollachi Road towards Ukkadam must take a detour via Eachanari Service Road, make a U-turn at Eachanari, and proceed through Chettipalayam Road, G.T. Tank, Railway Kalyana Mandapam junction, Podanur Bazaar Street, Kurichi junction, and Athupalayam to reach Ukkadam.

Light vehicles from Pollachi Road to Ukkadam should turn right at the Tomato Market in Eachanari and follow Saratha Mill Road, Railway Kalyana Mandapam junction, Podanur Bazaar Street, Kurichi junction, and Athupalayam to reach Ukkadam.

Buses from Ukkadam to Pollachi must take a left turn at Kurichi junction and follow Podanur Road, Podanur Bazaar Street, Railway Kalyana Mandapam junction, Chettipalayam Road, G.T. Tank, and Eachanari before joining Pollachi Road. Light vehicles on this route should turn right at Railway Kalyana Mandapam junction and proceed via Saratha Mill Road.

Heavy vehicles and buses from Ukkadam to Palakkad via Kuniyamuthur must use the Ukkadam-Perur Bypass Road, turn left at Selvapuram High School, and continue through Sivalaya junction, Perur, Sundakkamuthur, and Coimbatore Puthur. Light vehicles can take a left at Ashok Nagar roundabout and use Puduvikki Road.

Vehicles coming from Palakkad Road to Ukkadam should take alternative routes through Coimbatore Puthur, Perur, and Selvapuram to reach their destinations. The police have requested the public to cooperate with these traffic arrangements to ensure smooth flow of vehicles during the procession.
