Karpagam Academy Students Take Pledge Against Drugs During Awareness Programme

Karpagam Academy of Higher Education organised an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme on July 31, 2026, for first-year engineering students. Inspector Rajendra Prasath from Madukkarai Police Station addressed students about harmful effects of drug abuse and legal consequences. Students and faculty took a pledge against drugs.


Coimbatore: Karpagam Academy of Higher Education conducted an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme as part of its 21-Day Orientation and Student Induction Programme 2026 on July 31, 2026. The event was held at Thirumanthiram Hall and targeted first-year B.E./B.Tech. students from the Faculty of Engineering.






The programme was organised by the Department of Science and Humanities and featured Rajendra Prasath, Inspector of Police, Madukkarai Police Station, Coimbatore District, as the Chief Guest. Dr B V Pradeep, Registrar of Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, was present during the session.




Inspector Rajendra Prasath delivered an informative session highlighting the harmful effects of drug abuse on physical and mental health. He emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and warned students about the serious legal consequences associated with drug-related offences. The interactive session helped create awareness among the young students about staying away from substance abuse.




As a significant part of the programme, both students and faculty members participated in taking the Pledge Against Drugs. This collective commitment demonstrated the institution's dedication to building a drug-free society and creating a safe educational environment.




The Anti-Drug Awareness Programme forms part of the comprehensive 21-day induction initiative designed to orient new students to campus life while instilling important social values and awareness about contemporary issues affecting youth.
