Coimbatore: In a crackdown on reckless driving, the Coimbatore City Police have intensified their efforts to prevent accidents in the city. On September 6, the traffic police conducted a surprise check in the Avinashi Road and Race Course areas, following complaints about youth speeding on two-wheelers.

The operation was carried out under strict orders to monitor and control traffic violations. During the check, 17 young riders were caught speeding on their two-wheelers. The police have registered cases against these individuals and are conducting further investigations.

Speaking about the operation, a traffic police official stated, "During the surprise check conducted on September 6 at Race Course and Avinashi Road, we have registered cases against 17 youth for speeding on two-wheelers. Additionally, we have seized 5 two-wheelers as part of our enforcement action."

The official further added that these checks will continue in the future. "We urge all motorists in Coimbatore city to adhere to the prescribed speed limits. Strict action will be taken against those who violate these rules," the police warned.

This move comes as part of the ongoing efforts by the Coimbatore City Police to ensure road safety and reduce the number of accidents caused by speeding and reckless driving.
