A man was fined Rs 2000 for illegally dumping garbage from his car on Nanjundapuram Road in Coimbatore. The incident occurred on September 7, highlighting the city's strict enforcement of waste management rules.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) has taken strict action against a man who was caught dumping garbage from his car on Nanjundapuram Road. The offender was fined Rs 2000 for violating the city's waste management rules.

The CCMC has banned the dumping of garbage in public places within its jurisdiction. As part of this initiative, public garbage bins have been removed, and a door-to-door collection system has been implemented to segregate biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste.

Under the orders of Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran, sanitary inspectors have been conducting rigorous inspections to enforce the ban on public garbage dumping. The corporation has also warned that fines will be imposed on those found violating these rules.

On September 7, Sanitary Inspector Jeganathan received information about a person dumping garbage from a car on the side of Nanjundapuram Road. He rushed to the scene and caught the offender red-handed. Upon investigation, the man was identified as Anbu, a resident of Netaji Nagar. Subsequently, a fine of Rs 2000 was imposed on him for the offense.

The public and social activists who witnessed the incident praised the swift action taken by the corporation officials. They urged the authorities to continue taking appropriate measures against individuals who dump garbage indiscriminately in public places.

This incident serves as a reminder to the citizens of Coimbatore about the importance of proper waste disposal and the consequences of violating municipal regulations. The CCMC's proactive approach in enforcing waste management rules is expected to contribute to a cleaner and more hygienic urban environment.
