Special Train Service Introduced Between Visakhapatnam and Kollam via Coimbatore

Railway administration announces special train service between Visakhapatnam and Kollam via Podanur route, operating weekly from September 9 to November 27, 2023. The train will pass through Coimbatore, benefiting passengers in the region.


Coimbatore: The Railway Administration has announced the introduction of a special train service between Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Kollam in Kerala, passing through the Podanur route. This information was released in a press note issued by the railway authorities on the evening of September 6.

According to the announcement, the Visakhapatnam-Kollam weekly special train (No. 08539) will operate from September 9 to November 27, 2023. The train will depart from Visakhapatnam at 8:20 AM on Wednesdays and arrive at Kollam railway station at 12:55 PM the following day.

In the return direction, the Kollam-Visakhapatnam weekly special train (No. 08540) will run from September 10 to November 28, 2023. It will depart from Kollam at 7:35 PM and reach Visakhapatnam at 11:20 PM the next day.

This new train service, passing through Coimbatore, is expected to benefit passengers traveling between Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, providing a convenient transportation option for those in the region. The introduction of this special train is likely to enhance connectivity and facilitate easier travel for people in these states.
