Coimbatore Government Hospital Faces Parking Woes, Patients Suffer

Coimbatore Government Hospital is struggling with parking issues, causing inconvenience to thousands of patients. The hospital administration's decision to ban parking inside the compound has led to traffic congestion and security concerns.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Government Hospital, known for providing high-quality medical care, is facing a significant challenge in managing vehicle parking for its patients and visitors. This issue has been brought to light by Chitra Velliangiri, the 26th Ward Councillor of Coimbatore Corporation and the leader of the DMK Renaissance Council Group.

The hospital, which serves thousands of inpatients and outpatients daily, previously allowed parking for two-wheelers, cars, vans, and autos within its premises. However, the administration has recently instructed all vehicles to park outside the hospital compound. This decision has led to traffic congestion on the Trichy Road and poses security risks for the parked vehicles.

Patients arriving in autos and cars are particularly affected by this new arrangement. The lack of proper parking facilities is causing additional stress to those who are already dealing with health issues. There are concerns about vehicles going missing, adding to the anxiety of patients and their families.

Chitra Velliangiri, representing the public from Coimbatore and surrounding areas, including Peedampalli, has appealed to the hospital administration to reconsider their decision. She emphasized that the hospital, spread over hundreds of acres, should be able to accommodate parking spaces for two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and three-wheelers separately within its compound.

The councillor also highlighted that the current situation is leading to conflicts between the public and the police personnel deployed for security. She urged the hospital management to make necessary arrangements for vehicle parking inside the compound, as it was done previously, to alleviate the suffering of patients and their attendants.

This parking issue has become a significant concern for the people of Coimbatore, affecting the overall experience of those seeking medical care at this renowned government hospital.
