Coimbatore Police Issues New Guidelines for Liquor Shops to Curb Drunk Driving

Coimbatore City Police have issued new guidelines for liquor shops to prevent drunk driving. The instructions include arranging drivers for intoxicated customers and installing CCTV cameras outside the premises.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police have issued new guidelines for liquor shops in an effort to curb drunk driving incidents. The police have warned of strict action against those who drive under the influence of alcohol.

According to the new instructions, liquor shop management must ensure that customers arriving in their own vehicles are accompanied by drivers. If a customer who has consumed alcohol does not have a personal driver, the shop management is required to arrange alternative transportation for them.

The guidelines state that a driver arranged by the liquor shop management should escort the intoxicated person to their home. Additionally, the shops are instructed to monitor the age of their customers and watch for any signs of drug use.

The Coimbatore City Police have also ordered the installation of CCTV cameras outside liquor shops. They have warned that legal action will be taken against the establishments if any law and order issues arise.

In the past three days, 178 cases have been registered against drunk drivers within the Coimbatore City Police limits. The police believe that these new guidelines will help reduce incidents of drunk driving in the city.

The authorities have emphasized that liquor shop owners must take responsibility for ensuring their customers do not drive while intoxicated. This move is part of a broader effort to improve road safety and reduce alcohol-related accidents in Coimbatore.

These new measures reflect the growing concern over drunk driving incidents in the city and demonstrate the police department's commitment to addressing the issue proactively. The effectiveness of these guidelines will be closely monitored in the coming weeks and months.
