Farmers File Nominations for Odaiakulam Village Water Users Association Election in Pollachi

Farmers submitted nominations for the Odaiakulam Village Water Users Association election at the Pollachi Sub-Collector's office. The election for president and four administrative zone members is scheduled for August 31.



Coimbatore: The election for the president and four administrative zone members of the Kulappathukkulam Lake, Feeder Canal, and Odaiakulam Village Water Users Association, part of the Aliyar Irrigation Project near Pollachi, is set to take place on August 31. The nomination process for this election began today at the Pollachi Sub-Collector's office.



Farmers interested in contesting the election have been submitting their nomination papers to Uma Maheshwari, the Assistant Election Officer, since morning. So far, Visagapathi from Vettaikaranpudur area has filed nomination for the president's post.



For the administrative zone member positions, Neelakandan from Vettaikaranpudur, Chandru from Odaiakulam, and Rajamanickam and Karthikeyan from Anaimalai area have submitted their nominations. The nominations were filed under the leadership of Senthil, the president of the Aliyar Dam Irrigation Association.

The submitted nominations will be scrutinized tomorrow, and symbols will be allocated to the candidates. Voting is scheduled to take place on August 31 from 7 AM to 2 PM, with results expected to be announced the same evening. As only one candidate has filed nomination for the president's post and one each for the four administrative zone member positions, it is anticipated that they may be elected unopposed.
