Former Justice Karpaga Vinayagam Submits Skin Donation Application in Coimbatore

Former Justice Karpaga Vinayagam, honorary president of All India People's Rights and Legal Awareness Association, submitted a skin donation application to Dr. Raja Shanmugam Krishnan of Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore on August 19.

Coimbatore: In a significant move towards promoting skin donation awareness, Former Justice Karpaga Vinayagam, the honorary president of the All India People's Rights and Legal Awareness Association, submitted his skin donation application to Dr. Raja Shanmugam Krishnan, a plastic surgeon at Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore.

The event took place at Justice Karpaga Vinayagam's residence in Coimbatore on August 19. It was organized by the All India People's Rights and Legal Awareness Association in collaboration with Ganga Skin Donation Center, World Malayali Council, and Rotary 3201. The initiative aims to raise awareness about skin donation among the public.

The ceremony was presided over by R.K. Kumar, the founding president of the All India People's Rights and Legal Awareness Association. Other notable attendees included V.H. Subramaniam, General Secretary; Latha Arjunan, National Coordinator of the Women's Wing; Rajesh Kumar, State President; Senthil Kumar, Vice President; Chandrasekhar; Kumar Thangavel; Sivasakti; and Dr. Radhakrishnan, President of the World Malayali Council.

Justice Karpaga Vinayagam voluntarily came forward to fill out the skin donation application form and handed it over to Dr. Raja Shanmugam Krishnan. Speaking at the event, the former justice emphasized the importance of skin donation, stating, "This is a wonderful and essential program. While the public is aware of organ donations like eye donation, I myself am only now learning about skin donation. Even after one's death, it can provide rehabilitation to burn victims."

He further elaborated on the significance of different types of donations, drawing parallels with Tamil month celebrations and yearly anniversaries. "Just as each Tamil month has its specialty, each year has its own significance - first year paper celebration, second year cotton, third year leather, fourth year flower, fifth year tree, and so on for hundreds of years. Among these, skin donation gains importance," he explained.

Justice Karpaga Vinayagam concluded by saying, "If you help someone you know, you're human. If you help a stranger, you're divine. By donating skin after our death, we become divine. Therefore, I extend my best wishes to create awareness about skin donation among the public."

This initiative by the All India People's Rights and Legal Awareness Association, Ganga Hospital, Rotary 3201, and World Malayali Council marks a significant step in raising awareness about the critical need for skin donation in medical care.
