TNAU Hosts Hands-on Training on Gene Isolation, Cloning, and Molecular Characterization

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore conducts a four-day hands-on training program on gene isolation, cloning, and molecular characterization from August 6-9, 2024, attracting 23 researchers from India, Malaysia, and England.


Coimbatore: The Department of Plant Biotechnology at the Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (CPMB&B) of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) is conducting a four-day hands-on training program on "Gene Isolation, Cloning, and Molecular Characterization" from August 6 to 9, 2024. The program has attracted approximately 23 research scholars and scientists from various colleges and research institutions across India, Malaysia, and England.

The training program commenced on August 6, 2024, with an inaugural ceremony. Dr. N. Senthil, Director of CPMB&B, and Dr. M. Raveendran, Director of Research, graced the event as special guests. Dr. E. Kokiladevi, Professor and Head of the Department of Plant Biotechnology, delivered the welcome address.

In his inaugural speech, Dr. N. Senthil emphasized the importance of gene cloning as a crucial technique for all molecular biology studies. He provided an overview of the training program and stressed the significance of enhancing essential skills in gene cloning.

Dr. M. Raveendran, Director of Research, spoke about the role of such gene cloning training in fostering efficient human resource development. He highlighted the importance of gaining practical expertise in gene cloning and genomics for advancement in this research field.

The inauguration was followed by self-introductions from the participants. Dr. L. Arul, Professor and Head of the Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics, proposed the vote of thanks.

This intensive training program aims to provide participants with hands-on experience in cutting-edge techniques of gene isolation, cloning, and molecular characterization. The initiative is expected to enhance the skills of researchers and contribute to advancements in plant biotechnology and related fields.
