Coimbatore: A couple from Karamadai returned home to find their house burgled, with gold jewelry and cash stolen. The incident occurred while the family was away on a pilgrimage to their ancestral temple.

Raju and Angammal, residents of Kuttayur Goundar Street in Karamadai, left for Vandavasi on Friday to visit their family deity temple. The couple, who have two sons, returned home on Sunday morning, August 6, to discover their front door broken open.

Upon inspection, they found that 17 sovereigns of gold jewelry and Rs. 1 lakh in cash had been stolen from their residence. The shocked couple immediately filed a complaint at the Karamadai Police Station.

Responding swiftly to the complaint, the Karamadai police arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation into the theft. They are currently examining the evidence and questioning potential witnesses in the neighborhood to trace the culprits.

This incident has raised concerns about home security in the area, especially when residents are away for extended periods. Local authorities are advising residents to take extra precautions and inform trusted neighbors or relatives when leaving their homes unattended for several days.
