Railway Gate at Vadugapalayam Near Pollachi Reopens, Locals Celebrate

The railway gate at Vadugapalayam near Pollachi reopened for public use after being closed, causing joy among DMK members and locals who celebrated with firecrackers and sweets distribution.


Coimbatore: The railway gate at Vadugapalayam near Pollachi has been reopened for public use, much to the delight of local residents and DMK members. The reopening was celebrated with the bursting of firecrackers and distribution of sweets.

The issue began when the railway administration closed the Vadugapalayam railway gate on the 5th of this month, effectively cutting off road access to 16 villages in the area. This closure particularly affected residents of Muthur, Thalakarai, and Nalikkoundampalaiyam, who were forced to take a 2-kilometer detour to reach their villages.

In response to the closure, local residents and municipal ward members appealed to the Sub-Collector, District Collector, and Pollachi Member of Parliament Eswaransamy, requesting the reopening of the railway gate. The closure had caused significant inconvenience, as the gate was a crucial access point for many villagers.

MP Eswaransamy took the matter to the Railway Minister, emphasizing the need to reopen the gate for public use. Following these efforts, the Railway Department decided to reopen the gate, much to the relief of the affected communities.



The reopening was met with jubilation. Led by Navaneetha Krishnan, the DMK Town Secretary of Pollachi, party members and local residents gathered to celebrate the occasion. They expressed their joy by bursting firecrackers and distributing sweets, marking the end of their transportation woes.

This reopening has restored convenient access for residents of the 16 affected villages, who can now use their familiar and shorter route. The event highlights the importance of local infrastructure in daily life and the impact of community advocacy in addressing such issues.
