Two Arrested Near Madukkarai for Selling Ganja and Narcotic Pills

Coimbatore: In a crackdown on drug peddling, Coimbatore police arrested two individuals near Madukkarai for possessing and selling ganja and narcotic pills. The arrests were made during a routine patrol in the Sathyamurthy Nagar area on August 2.

Inspector Ravi of Sundharapuram Police Station was patrolling the Madukkarai Road area when he spotted two suspicious individuals on a two-wheeler. Upon inspection, the police discovered 150 grams of ganja and 55 narcotic pills in their possession, leading to their immediate arrest.

The arrested individuals were identified as Siju (25), son of Mohan from Sundharapuram Housing Unit, and Sharmila (27), daughter of Devaraj from SIDCO Sathyamurthy Nagar. Siju works as a turner in a lathe workshop, while Sharmila, a B.Com C.A. graduate, is employed as an auditor.

The police seized the contraband, along with a weighing machine, three mobile phones, and a two-wheeler from the suspects. The total value of the seized items is yet to be determined.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the Coimbatore police to curb drug-related activities in the city. The authorities are conducting further investigations to uncover any possible drug networks associated with the arrested individuals.

The case serves as a reminder of the persistent challenge of drug peddling in urban areas and the need for continued vigilance by law enforcement agencies.
