Tourism Minister Inaugurates First Luxury Travel Show in Coimbatore

Tamil Nadu Tourism Minister Ramachandran inaugurated the first Luxury Travel Show organized by TAAC in Coimbatore on August 3, 2024. The B2B event featured 70+ luxury tourism exhibitors and attracted 1000 visitors from the travel industry.


Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Tourism Minister Ramachandran inaugurated the first edition of the Luxury Travel Show organized by the Travel Agents Association of Coimbatore (TAAC) on Saturday, August 3, 2024. The exclusive B2B event, supported by the Union Ministry of Tourism and Tamil Nadu Ministry of Tourism, brought together luxury tourism exhibitors and travel industry professionals from around the world.

The show featured over 70 luxury tourism exhibitors and attracted approximately 1000 visitors, including travel agents and tour operators. Destination Management Companies from the USA, Europe, Singapore, Dubai, Malaysia, Turkey, and other countries participated in this unique event.



Notable attendees included popular airlines such as Scoot, Fly Dubai, Air India, Indigo, and Air Mauritius; luxury cruise lines like Cordelia, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Royal Caribbean; luxury caravan and boat operators; and premium resort companies. Buyers from all over India and neighboring countries were also present at the program.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including K.S. Sathish, Passport Officer, Regional Passport Office-Coimbatore; Senthil Valavan, Airport Director, Coimbatore International Airport; D. Venkatesh, Regional Director, India Tourism - Southern Region; Devaki Thiyagarajan, Chairperson, Southern Region - Travel Agents Association of India; and Pandian, President, IATO.

Vimal, Chairman of the Luxury Travel Show of TAAC, welcomed the gathering and emphasized the unique nature of the event in South India. He highlighted the incredible potential of luxury travel for the economy and community.

In his address, Minister Ramachandran commended TAAC for organizing the event in Coimbatore and urged tourism sector stakeholders to conduct similar events across Tamil Nadu to further boost the state's tourism activities. He acknowledged the significant impact of the pandemic on the tourism sector and expressed optimism about its recovery, projecting a substantial increase in tourism's share of the economy and employment generation in the next three years.

The Minister also outlined the Tamil Nadu government's commitment to supporting the tourism sector through various initiatives, including improving tourism infrastructure, enhancing tourist safety and security, and promoting sustainable tourism practices.

Airport Director Senthil Valavan and Passport Officer K.S. Sathish offered felicitations during the event. The gathering also observed a minute of silence for Wayanad and appealed to tourism stakeholders to show support for Kerala.
