The demonstration, organized by the Coimbatore Suburban North District unit of AIADMK, employed innovative methods, including protesters carrying hurricane lamps to symbolize their dissent.

The protest voiced opposition not only to the electricity tariff increase but also highlighted issues such as shortages of pulses and palm oil in ration shops, and the overall rise in prices of essential commodities. Demonstrators criticized the DMK government, labeling it as inefficient and accusing it of implementing policies detrimental to public welfare.
