Dengue Cases Rise to 36 in a Week in Coimbatore

Coimbatore reports 36 dengue cases in one week, prompting Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran to urge public vigilance and hygiene.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Corporation has reported a sudden spike in dengue cases, with 36 people diagnosed in the past week. In light of this outbreak, Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran has issued an advisory for heightened public awareness and precautionary measures.

Residents are advised to ensure no stagnant water around their homes, which is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. The Commissioner has emphasized the importance of disposing of items like coconut shells, tires, and plastic containers that can accumulate water and facilitate mosquito breeding.

These preventive measures are crucial in controlling the spread of dengue, a disease transmitted by mosquitoes. The Coimbatore City Corporation is taking steps to enhance sanitation and conduct fumigation in affected areas to curb the outbreak.
