Call for Enhanced Efficiency of Coimbatore-Bangalore Vande Bharat Express

Commuters in Coimbatore urge Southern Railways to improve the Vande Bharat Express's efficiency on the Coimbatore-Bangalore route. They suggest reducing travel time and adjusting departure schedules to better serve passengers and match the speed of other express services in the region.

Coimbatore: Commuters and stakeholders in Coimbatore have called on the Southern Railways to revise the travel schedule of the Vande Bharat Express running between Coimbatore and Bangalore. They highlight the service's current inefficiency, noting that it is one of the slowest in the country, taking six hours and forty minutes to cover 380 kilometers, averaging a speed of 57 km/h.

Comparatively, the Vande Bharat Express on the Salem to Bangalore Cantonment route takes 4 hours and 15 minutes, which is longer than the Ernakulam to Bangalore Intercity Express. This is despite the Intercity Express having more stops and conventional ICF coaches, yet it completes the journey in 3 hours and 50 minutes.

Furthermore, in the Bangalore Cantonment to Salem section, the Vande Bharat train, despite having only two stops, takes half an hour more than the KSR SBC/ERS Intercity Express, which stops at three stations along the same route.

During the trial run, DRM Bangalore reported that the Vande Bharat Express reached Bangalore Cantonment at 10:38 am, starting at 5 am from Coimbatore, totaling a travel time of 5 hours and 40 minutes with six halts. However, in the regular schedule, it takes 6 hours and 40 minutes.

The community suggests that the departure time from Coimbatore be set at 6:10 am, following the Chennai Vande Bharat Express. This change would better accommodate passengers relying on public transport to reach Coimbatore junction.

After persistent requests from local residents, the Indian Railways agreed to initiate the Vande Bharat service from Coimbatore to Bangalore. The locals now urge a reevaluation of the schedule to trim the travel time by at least 45 minutes, enhancing convenience and encouraging more passengers to use this service.

They emphasize the necessity to match or surpass the speed and efficiency of the Ernakulam to Bangalore Intercity Express, especially in the Hosur Section, to truly reflect the advanced capabilities of the Vande Bharat Express.
