Fire breaks out again at Aruvankadu Cordite factory; Two soldiers were injured

The pipe welding work was going on in DSC section this morning when a sudden fire broke out. Himanju and Manoj Kumar, who were working there, were seriously injured in the accident.



The Nilgiris: Two army personnel engaged in welding duties were seriously injured in a fire that broke out in an explosives factory at Aruvankadu in the Nilgiris district today.



The indian army's explosives are being manufactured at the Aruvankadu ammunition factory. There are more than 1,000 workers working in this factory.

Earlier this year a cylinder blast took place in the wee hours of June 19 with a loud noise in the CD section of the factory. Eight people were seriously injured.

A fire broke out this morning while pipe welding work was going on in the DSC section. Himanju and Manoj Kumar, who were working there, were seriously injured in the accident.



The two injured were given first aid treatment at the Cordite Factory Hospital and later taken to Coimbatore hospital for further treatment.

Wellington police are investigating the incident.
