Police investigate disappearance of ancient Karupapparayar statue from Sadayandi Ayyappan temple in Coimbatore

The Karunya and Alandurai police are investigating the disappearance of the1000-year-old 2.5 ft. tall Karupapparayar statue from the Sadayandi Ayyappan temple in Nallur Vayal village.



At Sadayandi Ayyappan temple which belongs to seven villages near Alandurai in Coimbatore, a 1000-year-old Karupapparayar statue mysteriously disappeared creating a stir among villagers in the area.

On festive days, tribals from all seven villages offer special worship to the deity. When the devotees of the villages arrived at the temple to light 'Kartikai Deepam' on Wednesday, they noticed that the 2.5 ft. tall stone idol of Karuppapparayar which dates back to a 1000 years had disappeared from the temple. Shocked by this, villagers gathered at the temple and immediately informed the police about the incident.

The Alandurai and Karunya police have rushed to the spot to investigate the disappearance of the deity.
