Elephants enter tea plantation factory near Pandalur - Workers run away in fear

After wild elephants re-entered a tea plantation factory near Pandalur in the Nilgiris district, the tea plantation workers have demanded that the forest department should take steps to drive them into the forests of Kerala.

The Nilgiris: With the Pandalur area adjoining the forest area of Kerala, herds of wild elephants have started migrating in large numbers in the last few days. Such herds of elephants frequently enter the government tea estate and industrial areas.

In this case, two female elephants along with a cub entered the Ilyas shop area located in the Gudalur-Kerala state link. The elephants were grazing on the lawns and then slowly entered the factory premises of the nearby State Tea Garden Corporation.

On seeing the elephants, the labourers panicked to inform their co-workers who were plucking tea and immediately entered the residential area from there. This caused a commotion for a while.

Tea garden workers have demanded that the forest department should take steps to drive the herd of elephants into the forests of Kerala.
