Nilgiris District Collector Amrith inspects rain damages in Ooty

Collector Amrith, who inspected the damages caused by the rains in Ooty, directed the officials to take immediate action to prevent the rainwater from clogging



The Nilgiris: With the northeast monsoon intensifying in Tamil Nadu, there has been widespread heavy rainfall in various districts due to the depression.

Normal life has also been affected due to the severe cold conditions in the hilly district of Nilgiris, especially in the hilly district of Ooty, Coonoor, Kotagiri, Gudalur and Kundha.



Due to incessant rains in Ooty town, the kodappamandhu canal is overflowing with rainwater. The water is entering nearby roads and settlements causing inconvenience to the public.



Traffic is also affected due to heavy rainwater logging on the road from Ooty bus stand to boat house. In this situation, The Nilgiris District Collector Amrith personally visited the area and inspected it.

He immediately ordered the officials to stack sandbags and take steps to prevent rainwater from entering the road.
