80-year-old woman files petition with Coimbatore District Collector; Seeks old notes found in deceased son's bag to be exchanged

Mariammal, a destitute woman from Uppilipalayam in Coimbatore submitted the petition to the District Collector, G S Sameeran seeking exchange of old Rs. 500, Rs.1,000 and Rs.15,000 denomination notes.


Coimbatore: Mariammal (80), a resident of Bhajanai Koil Street in Uppilipalayam in Coimbatore is the lone survivor after her husband Sundar Raj and son Senthilkumar died.

While cleaning her house thoroughly a few days ago, Mariammal is said to have found a bag used by her son Senthil Kumar which contained Rs.15,000, Rs.1000 and Rs.500 denomination old notes.



Following this, Mariammal arrived at the Coimbatre District Collectorate with the notes and submitted a petition to the Collector, G S Sameeran seeking that the old notes found in her son's bag be exchanged to new valid notes.
