"Bandh is unnecessary in view of tense situation in Coimbatore:" CPM State Secretary K Balakrishnan

The CPM State Secretary reiterated that at a time when tension prevailed across Coimbatore, the bandh announced by the BJP is akin to pouring oil into a burning fire. Hence, he stated that all parties will hold talks with the Collector in this regard.

Coimbatore: CPM State Secretary, K Balakrishnan has lauded the Coimbatore Police for the speedy arrest of culprits involved in the car blast incident that occurred in front of Ukkadam's Kottai Easwaran temple in Coimbatore.

CPM State Secretary, K Balakrishnan told reporters in Coimbatore that in the Thoothukudi firing case, the Aruna Jagadeesh Commission had recommended action against top officials. "Edappadi Palanisamy should be brought under the purview of the investigation. The incident should not be seen only as negligence of the authorities but a case of murder should be registered against them for acting as a puppet to a multinational company. If the Coimbatore car cylinder explosion had not occurred as an accident, there would have been a bigger danger. The DGP personally inspected the incident and conducted an inquiry. Moreover, it is commendable that arrests were soon made and their backgrounds were discovered. As there is an international investigation, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has been summoned by the NIA. The recommendation of the inquiry is welcome."

He also further added that in the present tense situation in Coimbatore, the BJP's bandh announcement was unnecessary. "We are going to talk to the District Collector of Coimbatore, G S Sameeran to call all the parties and talk to them about the proposed bandh. In such a situation, political parties should act like fire stations. The bandh announced by the BJP in a tense situation is like pouring oil on a burning fire," cautioned K Balakrishnan.
