Two members of Child Welfare Protection Committee arrested for accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 to issue certificates

Two persons, including Dhanalakshmi, a member of the Child Welfare Protection Committee, were arrested by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 from those who applied for certificates to send the child home in Coimbatore


COIMBATORE: The parents of a child have applied to take their child from a children's home in Coimbatore district.

At that time, the accused officials have allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 to issue the certificate. The victim's parents lodged a complaint with the DVAC.

Following this, the anti-corruption police handed over the chemical-coated notes to the complainant and asked him to hand it over to the persons who had asked for the bribe.



Accordingly, the parents went to the District Child Protection office at the Coimbatore District Collectorate and gave Rs 5,000 to Dhanalakshmi, a member of the child welfare protection committee.

The anti-corruption police, who were hiding there, caught Dhanalakshmi, a member of the Child Welfare Protection Committee, red-handed for accepting the bribe. Dhanalakshmi and legal assistant Karthik were arrested by the anti-corruption police and produced before the court.
