National Security Act slapped on 2 arrested men for petrol bomb attack in city's BJP offices: City Police Commissioner's Order

Saddam Hussain (32) and Ahmed Sikabuddin (24) who hurled a petrol bomb at the BJP office in Coimbatore on Sep. 22 have already been arrested and are in jail. A case has been registered against them now under the National Security Act on the orders of the City Police Commissioner, K Balakrishnan.



Coimbatore: The National Security Act (NSA) has been invoked on the orders of the City Police Commissioner, K Balakrishnan on two of the arrested men responsible for the petrol bomb attack on the BJP district headquarters in Coimbatore. A copy of the same has already been given to both the inmates of the prison, on Friday.

A petrol bomb was hurled at the BJP headquarters in Siddhapudur area of Coimbatore by unidentified miscreants on September 22. Following this, vigil was intensified in Coimbatore city and across the district as there were incidents of petrol bomb attacks in various areas including Oppanakara Street, 100 Feet Road, Kuniyamuthur etc. About 4,000 police personnel were deployed in the city. Thereafter, the police hunted down and arrested those who hurled petrol bombs and attacked the vehicles of Hindu outfits in various parts of Coimbatore.



Saddam Hussain (32), a resident of Cheran Colony in Kavundampalayam and Ahmed Sikabuddin (24) of Nehru Street, R S Thottam, Thudiyalur who hurled a petrol bomb at the BJP's district headquarters in Siddhapudur area of Coimbatore were arrested at C1 Kattoor police station in a case registered under u/s 153(A), 285 IPC @ 153(A), 436, 511 IPC & 3 of Explosive Substance Act and have been in judicial custody in Coimbatore Central Jail as per the Court order.

Now, on the orders of the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, Saddam Hussain and Ahmed Sikhabuddin have been booked under the National Security Act. A copy of the order to this effect has been handed over to the two inmates at Coimbatore Central Jail, on Friday.
