Driver arrested for robbing Rs.500 at knife-point near Kinathukadavu

Police arrested krishnakumar, a driver from Mettupalayam, who allegedly threatened a man with Rs.500 cash at knife-point from a man who was walking near Kovilpalayam.


Coimbatore: Ramkumar, who runs a mobile shop at Kovilpalayam near Kinathukadavu. He was at his mobile shop on the night of August 8, as usual, when he came there. Krishnakumar, a driver from Mettupalayam, had demanded Rs.500 from Ramkumar to drink liquor.

Ramkumar refused to pay the money and Krishnakumar threatened to kill him with a knife unless he hands it over. Ramkumar then handed over Rs 500 to Krishnakumar.

Ramkumar lodged a complaint with the Kinathukadavu police station last night. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested Krishnakumar, who had threatened to kill him with a knife and extorted money, and produced him before the court and sent him to jail.
